In Pakistan the telecom sector is observing an excessive growth. There are more than 100 million of mobile subscribers. In the south Asia Pakistan got the top position in the mobile penetration rate. More then half of the population use mobile phones. More then 80% of men and 20%of women have their personal mobile phones. Some mobile lovers have two or three mobile sets. According to the survey, in Punjab the cell phone usage is greater then other provinces.

It is 51.5%, 35.4%, in Punjab and Sindh respectively. NWFP and Azad Jammu Kashmir have 44% of mobile users. There are many cellular services in Pakistan. Among these services Mobilink leads the market having 3.14 million subscribers. Telenor stands second with 24.01 subscribers, Ufone at the third with 20.18 million subscribers, Warid telecom with 17.16 million subscribers and Zong at the end with 7.78 million subscribers. All above companies are trying to broaden their network through the country. Many mobile manufacturer companies also introduced there different series of mobile sets.

Most companies are Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericson, Motorola and LG are the common mobile phone companies in Pakistan. Nokia leads the market due to its exorbitant use. Everyone wants mobile phone having maximum features. Mobile manufacturer continue to introduce more functions and applications in their sets to increase there market rate. There is a fast competition between these companies. There are many features of mobile sets including mobile maps, text messaging, camera, games, mobile email, mobile search, music and videos downloading, mobile TV, video conference and push email.

People love to enjoy these services. Obscure of work and home life increase the use of mobile. Text messaging is the mostly used and easy feature of mobility. There is a remarkable rate in sms traffic. Extremely 151.6385 billion text messages were exchanged during the year 2009. According to report by International telecommunication union (ITU) Pakistan stands at fifth position on the base of exchanging sms per subscriber per month.

This report has declared that 128 sms per head per month were sent. This shows a remarkable trend of using text messaging service in Pakistan. Indeed it is a good service but its excess use makes over youth activities limited to chat. New technologies are introducing in mobile phones. Now mobile phone takes the place of digital camera, radio, cassette player and even computer. On seeing the rapid use of mobile phone in Pakistan Government has to build its own mobile manufacturer companies.
